I had been eagerly anticipating this movie since production began, mainly because I had just finished watching Haeundae Lovers and really enjoyed Kim Kang Woo’s performance. From the trailer alone, The Gifted Hands (also known as Psychometry) promised a gripping and intriguing storyline. However, while the movie is solid, it doesn’t deliver many surprises or unexpected twists.

Plot Summary

The story revolves around a series of murders where all the victims are young children. During the investigation, detectives come across a painting that eerily depicts one of the abductions. Believing the artist might be the killer, they begin a desperate search for him.

Cast of The Gifted Hands (2013)

  • Kim Kang Woo (Haeundae Lovers, Doomsday Book, A Better Tomorrow) plays Yang Choon Dong, a struggling detective who sees this case as his chance for redemption.
  • Kim Bum (Boys Over Flowers, Death Bell, Goddess of Fire) portrays Kim Joon, a troubled young man with a supernatural gift that forces him to live in hiding. He expresses himself through his art and tries to help others, though he is often misunderstood.
  • Esom (White Christmas, Behind The Camera, High Heels) plays a school teacher who provides key information about the missing girl.
  • Kim Yoo Bin (Oh! My Lady, The Fugitive of Joseon, The Princess’ Man) is Da Hee, a little girl sent by her alcoholic father to buy drinks—only to vanish in the hands of a stranger.

Final Thoughts

The Gifted Hands has a mix of comedy and drama, and the performances are excellent, especially Kim Yoo Bin. However, the storyline is quite predictable, which is a bit of a letdown. That said, I still recommend watching it. If you’ve never seen anything like this before, you might experience it on a different level. Personally, I found it a bit underwhelming.
